Church History

I have been meaning to post this for about a week and just never got around to doing it. This was the chapel that we went to in New Orleans. Sadly, they had to tear it down due to all of the heavy flooding, mold, etc from hurricane Katrina. When we were back in New Orleans some of our good friends (our old bishop & family) actually made trips back and forth to the church to retrieve all of the left over marble seen on the building. Rita got a lot, when I say "a lot" she got enough pieces to make a table out of. Another ward member (Jerry) actually was able to get enough to make the front of his fire place out of it. I thought that was pretty cool. Anyway, she picked up some extras and I actually came home with some smaller pieces just for memory sake. I think I am going to have it engraved with the date or something. The funny thing is Rita's youngest daughter (Haley) wanted the steeple of the church so they actually were able to get it for her. I really didn't believe that Kirk actually went and got it. But they showed us it in their garage. (too funny) She was the first baby blessed in that building (I think in 1995) that may not be the right year but around that time. I was at least glad to be able to take a piece home with us to remember all of the great memories that we had there and all of the wonderful people that we have met.
